FAQ
WHAT IS A PUBLIC ADJUSTER?
A public adjuster is an insurance claims adjuster who advocates for the policyholder to help them get a fair settlement from the insurance company after a loss. Public adjusters are licensed and regulated in most states.
WHEN SHOULD YOU HIRE A PUBLIC ADJUSTER?
We believe you should hire a public adjuster on every claim that you have. Why? Your policy stipulates that you, as the insured have "Duties After A Loss", and generally speaking most policyholders have no idea what those are nor the expertise to follow them without jeopardizing their rights in the claim. Another great reason to involve a public adjuster from the beginning is most policyholders don't have the time or expertise to properly document and negotiate your claim.
WHAT DOES A PUBLIC ADJUSTER DO FOR YOU?
A public adjuster investigates the claim, determines the value of damages, prepares claim documents, negotiates with the insurance company, and acts as an advocate to get you the best possible settlement. In a nutshell, we like to say, we "Educate, Investigate and Advocate."
HOW MUCH DOES A PUBLIC ADJUSTER CHARGE?
Public adjuster fees typically range from 10 - 35% of the settled claim amount. The fee may depend on the type of claim, size of loss, and state regulations. There are no upfront costs and they only get paid if they settle your claim favorably.
WHEN DO YOU THE POLICY HOLDER GET PAID?
Payment comes from the insurance company and is at their discretion. It can take anywhere between 2 and 24 months.
Every claim is different and has to be treated with expectations as such.
HOW DOES ALLY GET PAID?
We don’t take any upfront payments. We ONLY get paid if YOU get paid.
WHAT REPAIRS CAN I START OR COMPLETE?
The insurance company requires you to promptly undertake preventive measures, like covering the roof or siding with a tarp and drying out water, to mitigate further damage. Temporary repairs are permissible. However, refrain from initiating formal repairs until the adjuster has conducted an onsite evaluation.
WILL MY INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASE?
Legally, your premiums cannot and will not increase because you file a property claim. This is a misconception among all policy holders. Your premiums are only raised on a yearly basis based off the value of your home.
